I’m Maria, and I’m doing the job of Vice-Chair Membership for North Somerset CLP. This means that I’ll be the person members can contact if they need to update their contact details, if they aren’t receiving emails, or if they have a membership-related query. I’ll be doing my best to help all of our members to become involved in Labour-related meetings, events, and campaigns, and to encourage new members to join us. I have always been a strong believer in the importance of an egalitarian, inclusive society, and joined Labour in 2016, in the month after the Brexit referendum. As an Irish university teacher of French language and literature in England, I was keen to see Labour support a second referendum, and began to attend CLP meetings with this in mind. I kept going back because I found it inspiring to meet other people who are interested in changing lives for the better, through democratic means. I hope to meet you soon.
