“We have always known that financial independence enables women to make choices; it means they do not have to accept abusive relationships either in their private lives or in places of work. They can move on.

But over ten years of Conservative economic mismanagement have been disastrous for women.

Austerity, zero-hour contracts, and increasing inequality have, together, driven down wages, disempowered workers in the name of flexibility, made housing unaffordable, and largely destroyed the welfare system.

As your Labour District Councillor for Portishead East I will do everything in my power to make life better for women, for example by working to improve support services for victims of domestic abuse and by raising community awareness of domestic abuse.”
