Decent and safe housing for all

Labour in North Somerset will:

• Be on the side of homeowners and renters — not speculators and developers.
• Campaign for safe, decent, warm housing that people can afford.
• Hold developers to account on planning priorities, genuine affordability and low-energy housing in order to meet local housing needs; respect and honour local village plans.
• Introduce a comprehensive licensing scheme for private landlords to ensure well maintained, warmer houses for renters.
• Build new council housing to meet local need, foster stable communities and reduce insecurity.
• Continue to promote home insulation across existing housing stock to reduce heating bills and address fuel poverty.
• Press for urgent action to support North Somerset residents of homes still affected by the cladding scandal.
