Better jobs and better work

Labour in North Somerset will:

• Recognise that there is no possibility of true economic prosperity without good public services and infrastructure, accessible to all.
• Prioritise high-standard local contracting through council procurement and planning decisions, building skills and respect for local businesses and contractors.
• Introduce a Good Employment Charter to promote security, flexibility, wellbeing and development at work.
• Encourage businesses to increase their social value by opening up more opportunities to local young people.
• Support the council to promote greener jobs for local people.
• Commit to work towards paying the real living wage in North Somerset Council.
