Safe and secure neighbourhoods and communities

Labour in North Somerset will:

• Reduce crime and anti-social behaviour to make people feel more secure. We will work in partnership with the police and others to engage with young people and increase the visibility of police on the street.
• Ensure footpaths, road surfaces and lighting are well maintained in residential neighbourhoods.
• Make neighbourhoods safer for walking and cycling.
• Increase the number of children feeling safe to walk or cycle to school.
• Look to maximise community involvement and ownership of local assets — such as community halls, accessible public toilets, playing fields and public houses — where they are at risk.
• Work with Town and Parish Councils to establish regular community forums — such as roadshows and surgeries — that will enable meaningful and constructive engagement with the community to identify priorities and develop and modify plans.
